PostHeaderIcon P365 Day 55

Today is my DD's 15th Bday and I think I have hounded her till she is insane over the phone by either texting and making her suffer me singing Happy Birthday. I had big plans for me and her today until she mentioned her father was taking her and her brother out to eat. So I graciously, but not without aggravation bit my tongue and just let those plans take place. I do think he is a jerk for not asking me what plans I had with her..he knew I had some but I had mine to be a surprise and he goes and blabs his fat mouth to her about what he wanted to do. So what's a Mama to do? I would end up looking like a jerk if I had not let her go and there was no way I really wanted to go spend the evening out with my ex either and share. She did say she wanted to go eat at Logans Steakhouse so I hope she got her a nice juicy steak. =)

I got down in the grass today to get today's photo. Really, I was! Flat on my belly with the DSLR to practice shooting these little flowers in manual mode and this cute little bee decides to grace my lens.

An hour after taking the bee picture...this is was the sky looked like. I knew we were gonna get some storms but when they roll in as fast as this storm front did, it makes you a little nervous.
But the good news is that it's already gone and most of the really bad stuff stayed north of us.

PostHeaderIcon P365~Days 50-54

I have spent the past couple of hours sorting photos and doing a bit of editing so that they will
be ready when I go to scrapbook them. I also tackled sorting out my P365 photos since I had some on my iPhone and some taken with my Olympus. It's a job I don't wanna do again and will
stay determined to not let them get into such a mess again. I did get a little bit lazy and plopped my photos into a story board from MCP Actions so I would only be uploading 1 photo instead
of the 5 it would have been.

Day 50
Shaina and her Mimi. She got an early Bday present of a GC from Old Navy.
Day 51
Shaina spent her GC on some new camo flats.
Day 52
Our cat Izzy.
Day 53
I gave my brother a lift to do some business in a differnt town.
Day 54
Last year me and Shaina took a photo together on the last day she was 13. This year we did the same. I can't believe my baby girl will be 15. Gosh how time seems to fly!

And quite by coincidence every single photo was taken with my iPhone. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. What was wrong with me...lol!!!

PostHeaderIcon New Kit from Beth Rimmer and more

I have had the most wonderfully creative week for digiscrapping and Art Journaling. It's just a fantastic feeling to see your creations come alive on paper from what you have pictured in your head.

Up first is my ode to phlebotomy. Beth Rimmer has this wonderful new kit called Sirens of Pulp Fiction over at Deviant Scrap with the most delicious characters to play around with and the funkiest of fabric flowers and papers. I like that it's edgy and pushes you creatively. It was soooo much fun to play with!!!! Click on the preview to see all the credits.

This was a page I had hanging about on my hard drive since December and all it needed was a title and some journaling. Everything used in this one was from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

This is a page I did for the Art Journal Caravan. It's still plenty of time to sign up and if you are
remotely interested in art journaling, I can promise you won't be disappointed in this adventure.

PostHeaderIcon New "do's" and home schooled approved =)

Last week was a whirlwind of activity. I didn't have much time for anything extra around the house much less time to really turn on the laptop. I got Shaina's application for home schooling mailed out to Baton Rouge and much to my surprise I got a confirmation letter back on Saturday. I was advised by her BFF's father to send a self addressed stamped envelope with it for that purpose and I would get a quick response and WOW! he wasn't kidding! So we are official! Yipeeeee!!! I have decided not to try to purchase any books this late in the year. I have a list of subjects that she should "cover" this school year from our states school board link for home schooling and will just go by that. I will pull from the internet what we need or use the local library for any additional resources for us. I have already committed us to taking the IOWA test when her BFF's father gives it for their local home school group since he is an approved tester, so we have that covered for academic progression proof to send to the state. All is good. This week however public school is on winter break so I am letting her have winter break also which will give me a few days to get my act together and hit the ground running next Monday.

Since she is starting a new chapter in her young life we decided a new "do" was in order. She will turn 15 on the 24th and we wanted to go from little girl looking to more of a "teen" look. I am not wildly crazy about the heavy eyeliner her BFF did on her eyes but it's ok cuz being young should be fun and playing with different makeup looks is always a great way to wile away the afternoon. I talked her into letting me take some photos of her without her glasses. I think she is beautiful but I am her Mama and very biased. =). Most of all she is kind, caring, helpful and just the perfect daughter for me♥.

I was playing with my Hipstamatic app on my iPhone for these next photos.
I am never sure how the picture will turn out. I ♥ this one. Her BFF on the left and Shaina with her trusty chucks on the right.

This past Thursday was my Birthday and I decided a new "do" was in order for me too. I had been letting my hair grow out from a horrid butcher job from the last time I got it cut. That was about 9 months ago. The description of the cut is a "razor cut bob" which I just ADORE!!!! I thought the hubby was gonna hate it but he ♥'s it too. The other one I thought was gonna hate it was my son who let me know that he HATES my hair short but even he gave it the thumbs up.
So yeppers...I am feeling beautiful this week. Good hair kinda does that. =)

PostHeaderIcon Days 41 and 42 of P365~2011

Today I had to go to the school board and pick up a homeschooling packet. To be honest, it looks scary to me. I have glanced over it but have yet to really sit down to read it. I think I will do that tomorrow evening. Afterwards I will call my DD's BF father and have him help me. He homeschools and has offered his help and I do think I am going to need it esp. where the paperwork is concerned. I don't have the luxury of taking my time since the school year is in session. I am confident though that I have made the right decision as far as her education is concerned. On another note I am giving the school till Monday before I call them to find out what/or is there has been any type of action taken against the students that were cyberbullying and threatening physical harm to my DD. They did lay hands on her at school (one did) and they threw food and ganged up together and were calling her very vulgar names at her. When someone threatens your child that they are going to get them...well...you really don't put them back in the setting that they were in. This is not the first time she has been targetted for harassment, just not to this extent. After I find out what actions the school is/has taken, I will base my decision on if I should contact the Sherriff's office...which at this point, I will probably do anyhow.

Here is my sweet Shaina clearing out her school locker. I am not sure what she was looking at but hopefully it's to a brighter future. =)

Day 42
I am on a quest to drink plenty of water this year, but I am so addicted to the White Out Mountain Dew's (esp after you freeze them just a little and make them all slushy like) and the Bacon Chicken Ranch (minus the ranch add mayo) from Subway is the perfect combo for a no cooking kinda Friday evening. Oh so Yummy!

PostHeaderIcon Homeschooling and Art Journal Letter

Just when it seems life might calm a little bit something always rears it's head. My DD sorta just "floats" between mine and the ex's house. I just don't feel like 2 weekends a month is enough time to build relationships and memories with either of us. Do I like sharing her with him...no not really, but it's not about me. It's about her and her relationship with him and the rest of his side of the family. Anyhow, she has been over there for a couple of months and it was getting time for her to come back this way some. Before I could tackle that conversation I found out my DD has been bullied AGAIN at school on Monday and Tuesday. The was the absolute last straw with me and I somehow FINALLY got my ex to agree to letting me homeschool her. I go in the morning to unenroll her from the school and make my complaints against the school system and lack of supervision to keep my child safe. I really pray that I can keep my cool and not let them piss me off so that I look like some over reacting parent. Pray! Pray! Pray! is my mantra at the moment.

I did get another page done for my Art Journal. Yeah Me!!!!!

I finally got my letter done up that we are supposed to keep in the front of our Art Caravan Journals. It's not really a letter I suppose but it will be more than effective for me to continue on my quest this year and not fall off of my camel, which by the way I still haven't been able to catch.....much less give a name =0

PostHeaderIcon Weekend Journal Page and a couple LO's

I am pretty excited that I am keeping up with the itinerary on the Art Journal Caravan. The only thing I still need to do is my letter to myself to keep me motivated during the year for my book.

Here is my Week 5 page.

Even though my page is of a simple design, I did go outside my comfort zone and do an 8.5 x 11 page instead of my old trusty 12x12 size. Many things in my life have been those "ah-ha" moments but these are some of the top ones that have made me pause and just savor the moments.

I leave behind for my children and children's children.

PostHeaderIcon iPhone photos and the weekend

I started last weekend helping my friend Sammy move from her 5BR double wide mobile home to this teensy tiny 2BR apartment. It's not easy to decide what's important to take to the apartment when it all seems important. When I first showed up she was in her scrapbook room almost in tears being so overwhelmed. So I just sorta took charge and we ended up getting alot of her things at least boxed and sorted into storage or apartment or I am not sure just yet piles. My solution for her scrapbook stuff is to take it all to the apartment and sort through and see what she just can't live without and then bring the rest to a nook over here in my craft room. I don't do paper scrapping so it all holds no allure for me. I am perfectly content with my digital set up I have going for me. Don't get me wrong, I have traditional stuff but just a little for the hybrid project here and there. Some of you may think this photo is a bit morbid but if you knew her mother, you would understand it's not. Her mom was cremated and for years she carried her around in this beautiful box. When her Grandmother passed away/or her Grandfather, I forget..she buried her mother's ashes with them. She kept just a bit I think because her mother would haunt her if she didn't keep a part of her with her. She also has not found the "right" home for these bit of ashes. So in the moving, somehow Linda took the ride with me from her daughter's old house to her new apartment. Somehow I think I should be a bit weirded out by it but strangely I am not. I think it's just because I knew Linda and know that she would think it was a grand adventure for the afternoon.

These are actually some of my P365 photos I have taken...just not in any particular order. I think I will try to start posting them everyday. Mostly because it's just a good way to keep track of memories for scrapping and it's just plain fun. This is one of my cats Ghost watching the white stuff fall out of the sky.

Oh lookie!!! Some of that white stuff =)

I finally got an iPhone. I had heard rave reviews about Hipstamatic app. OMGosh!!!
It is sooo much fun and takes the wickedest photos!! All of these were taken today.

And these this afternoon in Stonewall at her old house. I love the moodiness of them. It' also helped it was getting a little bit cloudy and close to dusk. She is so gonna miss the country living.

I would love any suggestions on some more fun apps esp the photography and exercise ones.

PostHeaderIcon On a Roll! 2 New Pages =)

Today was a really nasty day. With the terrible blizzard storm moving through so many states we are lucky to just get rain and cold weather. I stacked tons of firewood on the back porch last night for (1) I like a cozy fire and (2) I want to be prepared in case the electric goes and I can at least stay warm. I might build one in a little bit when I am here in the living room to stay but while I am up and around the house I will leave it be. My poor hubby is stuck up in Missouri (we live in La.) on his job. He didn't work today, which is not good but he is supposed to be sent to Indiana in the morning for some work. He does powerline construction so I am sure he might be staying busy. I am hoping for to make up the day of work he missed AND maybe a bit of overtime pay. I still haven't taken my P365 photos off of my camera...NOTE to self...just get it done!!!!

I spent a lovely hour over at Scrapbookgraphics gabbing with the ladies in the chatroom. I remember the first time I went. I was petrified. How does a newbie fit in when everyone seems friends already. From the first moment I felt very welcome. They host a game and issue a chatroom scrapping challenge for which you can win some prizes. But I think the most fun of all is getting to know everyone and trying to type while I giggle. So if you are not doing anything on Tuesdays at 9 pm EST...you should hop on over to SBG and peek in.

I am excited to say that I won this weeks chat challenge (it's all randomly picked) with my Twilight page. I have been meaning to scrap this photo since I had taken it and am very pleased with how it turned out.

I am also very pleased with my art journal page I did for Itinerary 4 in the Art Journal Caravan at SBG. What came to mind when I think of the word Stretch? There were other prompts I could have chosen but this on spoke to me.

I have scrapped/art journal more in January than I did the whole last half of 2010. I am finding that the art journaling really enhances my scrapping in a way totally unexpected. I think it is because there are really no rules you have to follow on your art journal pages and they are giving me a chance to express myself in a way that is both artistic and cathartic.

Thanx for popping by my blog and taking a peek!

About Me

My Photo
Balinda (RebelChick)
Just an everyday girl trying to find my way in the world to live life fiercely and passionately. I was a signature tagger for several years but art journaling has replaced that passion and it feeds my soul creativiely and spiritually. I also homeschool my DD, scrapbook, play around in photography, spoil my cats and drive my hubby insane on a daily basis. My faith in the Lord helps me juggle all these blessings. I keep this blog because it makes me happy. Sometimes I blog a lot and other times it collects a little dust. Thanks for visiting and being my friend.♥
